Create your own Medicine Drum - 1 Day 

Drums are Sacred. They should always be treated with love, respect and honour using your inner wisdom to create a sacred instrument for ceremony, celebration, healing and journeying.   Prior to making your Drum it is important for you to set your intent. Why am I making this Drum? What do I want from this Drum? What energy do I want to place into this creation?   The making and use of the Medicine Drums are sacred events where the intent and “sacred breath” is placed into the Drum. The energy you breathe into the Drum is a key element in the process of making it. During the Drum making process you will be reminded from time to time to focus on “sacred breath”, your “Womachi”, to refocus your intent and to consciously put this energy into your Drum.   This day is about connecting with Mother Earth’s rhythmical community as we create our Drums. Allow the process of the creation of the Drum to stir your emotions. Let your feelings emerge within your Drum family as you share this day.   The Drum Making Includes: all materials for either a 12”, 15” or 18” Drum; choice of deer, kangaroo or goat hide; a Drum beater; smudging and cleansing of all materials; drumming, singing, story telling and teachings of traditional peoples; and a blessing on your Drum once it has been completed.

	Choose your Hide Deer Hide: Deer medicine holds the energy of the feminine, the gentleness, the nurturing, the mothering; it is about the star energy, universal energy. Deer helps us to live by the heart, heart energy and openness. Deer teaches us to trust and empower the feminine quality of love and wisdom.
	Kangaroo Hide: Kangaroo medicine is about the masculine energy, it is the warrior energy. It is the grounding connection to our Earth Mother. A kangaroo can’t go backwards as it is always moving in a forward direction.
	Goat Hide: Goat medicine is between both kangaroo and deer medicine as it brings balance to the extension of self. Goat is always trying to reach just that little bit further, taking that next step.

Everyone is welcome to make a Medicine Drum, from the very young to the young at heart. I welcome you all to be a part of the Drum family of Mother Earth’s rhythmical heart beat.
